In case you missed it, catcher John Ryan Murphy was placed on the disabled list today after a foul tip hit him in the face mask last night. This is how quickly depth at any position can go downhill - the Yankees suddenly do not have a reasonable replacement if anything happened to the oft-injured Francisco Cervelli or Austin Romine. Triple-A is currently being manned by Francisco Arcia and I guess organizational catcher Jose Gil, who only makes cameos nowadays.
Scranton (Defeated Columbus, 5-1)
Entering game, left-handed hitters were hitting .217/.299/.348 in 78 PA against Webb this season, with 32 strikeouts.

Trenton (Lost to Bowie, 4-1)
C Gary Sanchez: 1-for-4, RBI, K
.274/.333/.420 in 376 AB. I highly doubt the Yankees will promote him to Scranton to replace Murphy, though you never know.
CF Jake Cave: 1-for-2, BB, SAC
.301/.381/.484 in 93 AB here; .303/.360/.412 in 478 AB overall. So far, so good since promotion.
RF Tyler Austin: 1-for-3, BB
.280/.339/.421 in 361 AB
1B Greg Bird: 0-for-3, BB, 2 K
8-for-27 with four walks and seven strikeouts since promotion.
3B Dante Bichette: 0-for-2, 2 BB
4-for-13 since joining level (first two walks). Hitting .272/.354/.412 in 415 AB overall
CF Mason Williams: 0-for-4, K
.211/.275/.284 in 437 AB. He played RF tonight, but I will continue to list him as a CF only - because that is what he is. The Yankees are simply giving Cave reps in center as well.
OF Ben Gamel: 1-for-4
.279/.321/.365 in 469 AB. Simple incapable of doing much that is exciting, it appears. Fifth straight 1-hit game.
RHP Jaron Long (L, 5-1): 7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Now 10-4 overall. He has thrown 118 innings this season, allowing 100 hits while walking 19 and striking out 101.
RHP Danny Burawa: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
Allowed two Cesar Cabral baserunners to score.
RHP Mark Montgomery: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K
Someone gave me a first-person perspective on him, and it pretty much confirmed what we have been hearing: The fastball is gone. And since the fastball is gone, it makes the slider (which is still a plus-plus type of pitch) less effective. When he throws 92-93, people have to respect the fastball and can't sit on the slider - when he is throwing in the 80s, hitters just don't care about the fastball anymore.

Charleston (Lost to Rome, 6-5)
3B Miguel Andujar: 3-for-6, RS
.259/.314/.389 in 406 AB. .324/.380/.465 in 170 AB since ASB.
SS Tyler Wade: 2-for-6, RS, 3 K
.278/.351/.340 in 435 AB with 45 walks and 102 strikeouts. Obviously, he needs to work on those strikeouts a bit - but again, what more can you expect from a 19-year old SS in his first full season?
SS Abiatal Avelino: 1-for-5, K
.232/.292/.294 in 177 AB. 6-for-58 (.103) since the ASB, which coincides with his return from injury.
OF Yeicok Calderon: 2-for-5, HR (1), 2 RBI, RS, 2 K
6-for-22 here; .248/.276/.407 in 145 AB between here and Tampa.
1B Mike Ford: 2-for-5, RBI, RS, K
.292/.385/.458 in 301 AB
OF Michael O'Neill: 0-for-6, 2 K
.254/.323/.390 in 418 AB with 116 strikeouts
OF Brandon Thomas: 0-for-3, 2 BB, K, SB (14)
.184/.291/.268 in 239 useless AB
LHP Justin Kamplain: 1.2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
First truly rough appearance for the 18th round pick out of Alabama. Has a 1.35 ERA in 26.2 innings between Staten Island/Charleston with a 30/4 K/BB ratio.
RHP Conor Mullee: 3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, HR
1.93 ERA; 28 IP, 18 H, 12 R, 6 ER, 1 HR, 8 BB, 31 K between Staten Island/Charleston
LHP Evan Rutckyj: 2.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
4.38 ERA; 39 IP, 35 H, 23 R, 19 ER, 2 HR, 32 BB, 51 K between Charleston/Tampa

Staten Island (Defeated Mahoning Valley, 8-0)
C Luis Torrens: 1-for-5, HR (2), RBI, RS, K
.300/.357/.462 in 130 AB for Staten Island
IF Jose Javier: 2-for-5, HR (1), 3 RBI, 2 RS, SB (7)
.225/.317/.281 in 89 AB. Playing a lot of SS in Estrada's absence.
1B Connor Spencer: 2-for-4, CS (4)
.362/.390/.457 in 127 AB. As always, tough to get TOO excited over a college bat playing at this level - but the bottom line is that many college bats flame out the instant they are signed. He will get his shot at Charleston soon enough.
2B/3B Ty McFarland: 2-for-5, RBI, RS
.294/.362/.444 in 187 AB
RF Austin Aune: 2-for-5, 2B (15), RBI, RS, 3 K
.220/.282/.382 in 173 AB with 72 strikeouts
OF Nathan Mikolas: 2-for-3, 2 RS, BB
.221/.362/.328 in 122 AB (21 walks)
C/CF Collin Slaybaugh: 2-for-5, 2B (5), RBI, RS
.229/.313/.300 in 70 AB
RHP David Palladino (W, 5-4): 5.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 2 K
4.01 ERA; 51.2 IP, 49 H, 29 R, 23 ER, 3 HR, 22 BB, 50 K
LHP Rony Bautista: 2.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K
3.79 ERA: 38 IP, 30 H, 19 R, 16 ER, 2 HR, 26 BB, 50 K
