Scranton (Lost to Indianapolis, 3-2. At least David Adams can get up here quickly in September, given Scranton's 55-58 record)
David Adams: 2-for-3, RBI, BB - Average up to .308.
Dan Johnson: 1-for-3, HR (17), RBI, RS, BB - Drawing his usual share of walks (73)
JR Murphy: 0-for-3, BB - Hitting .288. Caught tonight after catching an extra-inning affair last night. They are really working up his stamina behind the plate, it appears.
Ronnier Mustelier: 0-for-4
Michael Pineda: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K - Unless I see differently, I will just assume the Yankees are limiting his outings. Only threw 29 pitches.
Chase Whitley: 2.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K - First rough outing in a while. (He didn't allow a run in 17.1 July innings) Has a 3.63 ERA in 44.2 innings with a 43/16 K/BB ratio. Isn't on the 40-man, so they would need to find room for him in September if they want to take a look.
Mark Montgomery: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K - This is the type of outing we were used to with Montgomery before his shoulder weakness earlier this year. Has a 2.92 ERA and 45/23 K/BB ratio over 37 innings.
Yoshinori Tateyama: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
---------------------
Trenton (Defeated Reading, 6-2)
Slade Heathcott: 2-for-2, RS, BB, HBP, 2 SB (13) - He has been slumping a tad as of late, so this is a nice game to see. Hitting .261 and his 13 steals have come in 21 attempts.
Ramon Flores: 2-for-5, 2B (16), RS - Pedestrian .245 with very little power. The walks are OK, but not enough to overcome everything else.
Kyle Roller: 2-for-4, 2B (22), HR (14), 3 RBI, RS - Roller is intriguing because his left-handed power appears to be real. He strikes out very often (112 times in 95 games), however.
Jose Pirela: 1-for-4, RS
Mikey O'Brien: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K (4.02 ERA; 78.1 IP, 72 H, 40 R, 35 ER, 6 HR, 35 BB, 55 K) - Hasn't allowed an extreme number of home runs in the minors, but his ground ball rates are not exceptional, either. In other words, I don't know if he would ever survive in Yankee Stadium if he were to make that climb.
Zach Nuding: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K (4.19 ERA: 111.2 IP, 127 H, 67 R, 52 ER, 8 HR, 46 BB, 81 K) - I don't know if his shift to the pen is a permanent type of move, or just a way to control his innings. He has thrown 117.1 innings if you include his start for Scranton. Last year, he tossed 100. In 2011, he tossed 108.1.
------------------
Tampa (Defeated Ft. Myers, 2-1)
Robert Refsnyder: 3-for-4, 2 RBI, SB (12) - 10 hits in last 36 AB
Pete O'Brien: 1-for-4 - A rare mundane night for O'Brien.
Gary Sanchez: 0-for-3, 2 K - 6-for-40 slide.
Mason Williams: 0-for-4
Taylor Dugas: 0-for-2, 2 BB, CS - Now has 47 walks and 35 strikeouts in 292 AB.
Scottie Allen: 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K - 3.51 ERA for Tampa with a 71/39 K/BB ratio over 100 IP.
Branden Pinder: 3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K - Dominating in Tampa after getting hit hard in Trenton earlier this season. Has a 33/3 K/BB ratio over 29 IP for Tampa. 22/16 over 24.1 for Trenton.
Taylor Garrison (S, 6): 0.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K - 1.17 ERA for Tampa with 28/7 over 30.2 innings.
-------------
Charleston (Lost to Augusta, 6-0)
Greg Bird: 1-for-3, BB - Walk streak has now reached 7 straight games. 33 walks in 39 games since ASB.
Angelo Gumbs: 1-for-4, 2B (8) - Has hit the ball very well here; it is just too bad his stint in Tampa earlier in the year was such a disaster. Still young enough to recover.
Ericson Leonora: 1-for-4, 3B (1)
Dan Camarena (L, 3-6): 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K - Bullpen imploded behind him, turning a close game into a rout. Continues to pitch very well, even with a few clunkers mixed in. Has a 28/2 K/BB ratio over 43 IP since ASB.
James Pazos: 1 IP, 5 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 1 HR - Obviously, this was the implosion. 22-year old LHP has been generally solid since being drafted last year, but not tonight.
---------------------
Staten Island (Lost to Williamsport, 7-3)
Bubba Jones: 2-for-4, 2 2B (11), RBI - After a .494 OPS in June, Jones has taken off. The Yankees can use the bats, obviously - but it should be noted that Jones appears to be anchored at first base, which means he will have to do a lot of hitting (like Greg Bird) to catch someone's attention.
Eric Jagielo: 0-for-4 - The flop is down to .244. Eric Duncan II, though at least Duncan got to Triple-A. This no-talent will be in the independent leagues before 2014 even begins.
Mike Ford: 1-for-4, HR (1), RBI, RS - Undrafted FA out of Princeton hits first career professional HR.
Michael O'Neill: 1-for-4, K - .242 with 55 Ks and only 8 walks.
Brandon Thomas: 0-for-4, RBI - .225/.349/.324 in 142 AB.
Jose Rosario: 0-for-3, RS, BB
Derek Toadvine: 1-for-3, RS, BB
Giovanny Gallegos: 3 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 2 HR - 3.67 ERA with 29/6 K/BB ratio over 41.2 innings since joining Staten Island. Experiencing a few growing pains now after a red-hot start to his career.
Cale Coshow: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K - 3.38 ERA with 26/13 K/BB ratio over 26.2 innings.
