After last night's bullpen implosion, the Yankees decided to do a minor shuffling of the deck today, designating Cesar Cabral for assignment while bringing up Matt Daley. Daley wasn't on the 40-man roster, so Cabral was cleared to make room.
The move is a minor move - Daley is not likely to last for more than a day or two (or until David Roberson returns). He is a 31-year old journeyman who has dealt with a series of injuries throughout his career. He does have some major league success, however - posting a 3.65 career ERA, while striking out more than a batter per inning.
In Scranton this year, he appeared in four games. 13 of his 15 recorded outs have been via the strikeout (how often do you see a 23.4 K/9?), though he has also allowed three runs.
