The Yankees are going to call up Zelous Wheeler in time for Thursday's game. No word yet on who is being shipped out.
The 27-year old has put together a solid minor league career, but has never played a major league game. He can play many positions (has experience at 2B/SS/3B/LF/RF in his career), but isn't known for his defense.
Heading into tonight's game with Scranton, he was hitting .300/.368/.469 in 65 games. In his career, his triple slash reads .274/.366/.418 in 3,370 plate appearances.
Being a right-handed bat who plays the OF, it could actually be Alfonso Soriano getting the boot. If not him, perhaps someone is going on the disabled list.
