Minors Note: Yankees to Call Up Preston Claiborne and Bryan Mitchell

According to Josh Norris and Dan Barbarisi.

Everyone should know about Claiborne; came up during the 2013 season, started off very strong with a long string of innings without allowing a walk before tiring out down the stretch.  He lost his stuff this spring (before spring training started, he seemed to be assured a spot in the bullpen) and was thrown into the minors.

Mitchell had one of his most promising outings to date last time out (6 IP, 12 K).   He has top-of-the-line stuff with so-so results.    He has never pitched above Double-A, and is likely here for emergencies only.  Vidal Nuno facing off with the suddenly red-hot Rays offense could constitute an emergency before the Yankees even take the field tomorrow.

No corresponding moves have been made yet.  With Nova's elbow a concern, placing him immediately on the 15-day disabled list is very possible.  That would still mean one more move, which very likely could be Matt Daley.
