Yankees Minor League Report 8/14/14: Recap of Last Night's Action, Including Jagielo's 15th HR

A quick rundown of what went down last night:

Scranton  lost a 3-2 game in 14 innings.   One of those games where position players start entering - in this case, it was Taylor Dugas, who may be the least imposing player in the entire organization.  He gave up the winning run in the loss (Dugas also pitched earlier this season)....Robert Refsnyder doubled in a run in his six at-bats....Kyle Roller singled, but also struck out four times....Not only did Dugas pitch, he also played the outfield.  He went 4-for-6 with a run scored.....Jose Pirela had a pair of singles, while Zoilo Almonte singled, doubled, and drove home a run....Pat Venditte actually started the game, tossing three hitless innings while walking three and striking out three.  He allowed one run....Nick Rumbelow tossed two scoreless innings, walking one and striking out one...Edgmer Escalona worked three hitless innings, walking one while striking out three.

Trenton lost to Altoona, 4-2.....Gary Sanchez, Jake Cave, Tyler Austin, Mason Williams, and of course Ben Gamel all had a hit apiece.  Austin and Gamel each drove home a run, while Williams scored a run.....Greg Bird was hit by a pitch and struck out twice....Jairo Heredia went four innings, allowing two runs while walking three and striking out six....James Pazos worked two scoreless frames, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out two....Danny Burawa went 1.2 innings, allowing no runs on one hit with two walks and two strikeouts.

Tampa defeated Lakeland, 7-2.....Eric Jagielo hit a solo home run and scored twice. He also drew a walk and struck out three times.  A true "three outcomes" type of performance.  The homer was his 15th of the season....Aaron Judge went 0-for-4 with a walk and three strikeouts....Mark Payton and Angelo Gumbs each doubled.  Gumbs drove home a run, Payton scored a run....Cito Culver went 0-for-4 with an RBI (productive out!), a walk, and two strikeouts....Miguel Sulbaran earned the victory, going five innings while allowing two runs on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts.  Yet another one of those non-power left-handers that we won't get a true read on until he attempts Double-A....

Charleston defeated Hickory, 13-9.  Call them up!......Miguel Andujar had a pair of singles, a pair of runs batted in, and scored a pair of runs....Yeicok Calderon contributed three hits, including a home run, and drove home three.... Tyler Wade had two hits, including his fifth triple, scored a run, and drew a walk....Gosuke Katoh doubled, scored three times, drove home a run, and walked twice....Brandon Thomas hit a grand slam and ended the night with five runs batted in.  He also stole his 17th base.   He has been doing a tad better as of late, but is still only at .191...Rookie Davis got smoked, allowing six runs in 3.1 innings.  He walked one, struck out four, and allowed a pair of home runs....Evan Rutckyj earned the win, going three innings while allowing a run on three hits with a walk and four strikeouts....

Staten Island swept Connecticut to get back up to .500.  Connecticut is where Joey Pankake, the best name in all of sports, resides....Austin Aune drove home two runs....Vincent Conde singled, drove home a run, and scored a run....Luis Torrens walked, scored a run, and struck out....Collin Slaybaugh singled, drove home a run, scored a run, walked, and struck out....Chris Breen had two doubles, a triple,  and three runs scored....Dillon McNamara worked four scoreless innings, giving up five hits with no walks and two strikeouts....
