Yankees Minor League Report 8/12/13: Robert Refsnyder Leads the Way on a Very Slow Night

Scranton, Trenton, Charleston, and Staten Island were all off today.

Tampa (Lost to Daytona, 5-4)

Robert Refsnyder:  4-for-4, RS, HBP, SB (15) - 12 hits in last 35 AB.  Also has 9 walks in that time frame.  22-for-27 stealing bases between Charleston/Tampa.    He will try to conquer Trenton in 2014.

Mason Williams:  1-for-4, RS, BB

Ben Gamel:  1-for-5, RBI 

Taylor Dugas:  0-for-3, RS, HBP, SB (7) - .248/.375/.299 between Charleston/Tampa with 17 steals in 23 attempts.  Has 51 walks and 35 strikeouts.

Dan Fiorito:  3-for-4, 3B (1), RBI, RS - Holding his own with a .282 BA for Tampa in 202 AB.

Pat Venditte:  1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

Taylor Garrison: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K - 1.93 ERA between Charleston/Tampa with a 46/13 K/BB ratio over 46.2 innings.

A few lines from today's GCL games:

Thairo Estrada:  2-for-4, HR (2), 2 RBI, RS -  Hitting .296/.355/.448 in 125 AB.  17-year old infielder.

Abiatal Avelino:  0-for-5 - Hitting .331/.409/.471 in 121 AB with 22 (!!!) stolen bases in 26 attempts.  Has 13 walks and only 10 strikeouts.  18-year old shortstop.

Luis Torrens:  1-for-4, RS - .242/.359/.305.  17-year old catcher.

Miguel Andujar:  2-for-5, 2B (7), 2 RS - 9-game hitting streak.  .300/.337/.500 in 80 AB for 18-year old third baseman.

Tyler Wade:  2-for-3, 2B (6), RS, 2 BB - .336/.458/.388 for 18-year old shortstop.  The Yankees have some promising middle infielders at this level, but you always have to have guarded optimism.

Gosuke Katoh:  1-for-5 - .305/.408/.531 for the 18-year old second baseman.

Jordan Cote:  3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K (0.96 ERA; 28 IP, 18 H, 7 R, 3 ER, 1 HR, 5 BB, 20 K) - 20-year old was a third round pick in 2011 draft.    Had a 0.98 ERA at this level last year over 27.2 innings with a 25/4 K/BB ratio.  

 

Dallas Martinez:  4 IP, 8 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 0 BB, 1 K - 3.38 ERA in 21.1 innings with a 15/3 K/BB ratio.  18-year old RHP.
