Yankees Minor League Note: Pete O'Brien Promoted to Trenton

This should be interesting.  O'Brien has played catcher (Gary Sanchez) and RF (Tyler Austin - although he is hurt, he is expected back within a week), so that leaves O'Brien without much of a position to play consistently.    The DH spot has been rotating, so he can get his ABs there, but he also does need to play the field to keep his stock high for the Yankees and teams that could be interested in him for trades.

That said, he deserved this promotion.  He was hitting .321/.353/.688 with an organization-leading ten home runs.   His 29/4 K/BB ratio is obviously not ideal, but his game is built a lot around mashing more than it is around being extremely patient.

This will be a huge test for him - the Double-A crucible has swallowed up many prospects in the past - and guys like O'Brien, who rely so much on their power for their value, have little overall room for error.  I am intrigued to see what he does.
