Yankees Minor League Report 5/15/14: Eric Jagielo Hits 2 HRs (Including Grand Slam) while Greg Bird Adds Solo Blast in Tampa Victory

Scranton (Lost to Lehigh Valley, 7-1)

1B Kyle Roller: 1-for-3, HR (2), RBI, RS, K
11 HR in 99 AB.   Go ahead and do the math on a 600 AB season.
1B/OF Ramon Flores:  1-for-4, 2B (10)
IF Corban Joseph:  1-for-2, BB
.216/.263/.294 in 74 AB
2B Jose Pirela:  0-for-3
UTIL Dean Anna: 0-for-4
OF Adonis Garcia: 1-for-4, 2B (5)
.315/.346/.411 in 124 AB
IF Scott Sizemore: 0-for-3, K
UTIL Zelous Wheeler:  0-for-3
His versatility (and strong start at the plate) could earn him a promotion at some point.

RHP Shane Greene (L, 0-2):  5 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 4 K
Was strong through the 5th, got in trouble in the 6th.  6.11 ERA in 17.2 IP with 18/8 K/BB ratio.
RHP Danny Burawa: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
Allowed both of his inherited runners to score, but can still claim he has a 0.00 ERA in 11.2 IP with four hits allowed, seven walks, and 16 strikeouts.
LHP Fred Lewis:  0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
Ouch.  Remember, Lewis was pretty close to making the roster.   Has a 7.71 ERA in 9.1 IP with 22 (!!!) hits allowed, four walks, and eight strikeouts.
RHP Mark Montgomery:  1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
Did allow one of Lewis' runs to score, but overall, Montgomery seems to be back to where he was.  1.45 ERA; 18.2 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 HR, 10 BB, 22 K

Trenton (Lost to Erie, 4-2)

CF Slade Heathcott:  0-for-4, K
2014 debut for Heathcott, the ultra-talent (and often injured) center fielder, famously drafted in the first round in 2009. (Famously because the Yankees had their radar smack on Mike Trout, only to have the Angels select him)
C/RF Pete O'Brien:  1-for-4, K
2B Robert Refsnyder:  1-for-3, 2B (8), BB, K
.281/.342/.432 in 139 AB
OF Ben Gamel: 1-for-4, 2B (8), RS
.292/.331/.381 in 168 AB
3B Rob Segedin: 1-for-3, RBI, RS, BB, K
.268/.391/.420 in 112 AB
1B/RF Tyler Austin: 0-for-4, RS, K
18-for-73 (.247)
OF Taylor Dugas:  3-for-4
.316/.430/.484 in 95 AB.  Since I don't want to jinx anything, I will continue with my "not much of a prospect" and "he is so small that jockeying may have been a better idea" mantras.
C Gary Sanchez:  0-for-1
PH tonight.

RHP Bruce Billings:   1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
Rehab appearance.  Not that we should get excited that he is almost ready to be stretched out again.
RHP Graham Stoneburner (L, 2-1):  5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 1 HR
4.60 ERA; 31.1 IP, 29 H, 17 R, 16 ER, 3 HR, 8 BB, 18 K

Tampa (Defeated St. Lucie, 10-5, in a rain-filled marathon)

3B Eric Jagielo:  3-for-5, 2 HR (9), 5 RBI, 2 RS
One of the HRs was a grand slam.  Jagielo is at .259 with seven doubles, nine HR, and 26 RBI in 139 AB.   Strikeouts are a bit high (33 in 37 games), but he is taking a fair number of walks (16).  Overall, the Yankees couldn't have asked for much more out of him to start the season.
1B Greg Bird: 2-for-4, HR (2), RBI, RS, BB
11-for-26 since coming off of the disabled list.  Four walks and four strikeouts.
CF Jake Cave:  2-for-6, 2 RS, 3 K
Hitting .315 in 162 AB.  16-for-43 in last 10 games.  33 strikeouts and 10 walks.
SS Cito Culver:  2-for-6, RS, K
Average is back over .200!  Yay!
3B Dante Bichette:  1-for-4, RBI, BB, K
Has hit safely in eight of his last ten games, but all of them are one-hit affairs.
2B Angelo Gumbs:  2-for-4, 2B (6), RBI, RS, BB
OF Claudio Custodio:  2-for-4, 2B (2), 2 RBI, RS, BB

RHP Rafael DePaula:  4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 4 K
Taken out after rain delay.   3.06 ERA; 35.1 IP, 25 H, 12 R, 12 ER, 22 BB, 44 K
RHP Nick Rumbelow:  2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
12 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 22 K

Charleston was postponed.
