Yankees Minor League Report 7/16/13: Slade Heathcott Leads the Way on a Slow Night

All of the teams from Staten Island on up were off today except for Trenton.

Trenton (Lost to Reading, 6-3)

Slade Heathcott:  2-for-5, 2B (16), RBI - 14 hits in last 42 AB (.333).    19-for-53 in July.   Interestingly, he has been very good in every other month (.576 OPS in April; .734 in May; .631 in June; .841 in July entering tonight)
Ramon Flores:  2-for-4, RBI, BB - Second consecutive two-hit game, and three multi-hit games in his last five contests.    Flores is in need of a hot streak - hopefully, one is beginning.
Jose Pirela:  0-for-4, BB - Snaps his hitting streak.  Hitting .261/.358/.400.  23-year old second baseman is repeating this level, but isn't coming off of a bad season (.804 OPS in Trenton last year)
Andrew Clark:  0-for-4
Carmen Angelini:  0-for-4
Cody Grice:  2-for-4
Jose Gil:  2-for-4
Shane Brown: 2-for-3, 2 RS, BB - 25-year old right-handed bat started his career strong.   In 2011, he actually hit .446 in 74 AB for Staten Island before putting up a .800 OPS in 131 AB for Charleston.   He was already 23 years old at that point though.   Crashed and burned in 2012 (.407 OPS in 110 AB)

Mikey O'Brien:  0.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 0 K - Interestingly enough, he came out of the bullpen while a reliever (Fred Lewis) started.   O'Brien has a 3.86 ERA in 65.1 innings for Trenton with a 48/30 K/BB ratio.
