Yankees Minor League Report 7/29/13: Robert Refsnyder Collects 3 Hits; Jake Cave Collects 4; Luis Severino Starts for Charleston

JR Murphy:  1-for-4, CS (1) - Who do you think you are, Jason Kendell?  Average at .291.    11-for-20 career stealing bases.
Randy Ruiz:  3-for-4, 2 2B (8), RBI
Adonis Garcia:  2-for-5, 2B (5), HR (2), RBI, RS
David Adams:  0-for-4
Thomas Neal:  1-for-4, RS - Hitting .321 in 252 AB.

Mason Williams: 2-for-5, RBI - Hitting .277.    41-for-117 (.350) since ASB.
Robert Refsnyder:  3-for-5, 2B (22), RBI, RS - 13 hits in last 36 AB.    Numbers slowly creeping back up.
Pete O'Brien: 1-for-4, 2B (9), RBI - Has 31 doubles and 17 HR in 327 AB between Charleston/Tampa.
Gary Sanchez:  0-for-4 - Down to .256.  16-for-80 (.200) in July.
Mikeson Oliberto:  3-for-4, RBI, 2 RS - 21-year old right-handed bat put up a .819 OPS in the GCL last year.

Bryan Mitchell:  5 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K (4.78 ERA; 113 IP, 124 H, 71 R, 60 ER, 5 HR, 45 BB, 96 K)  -  A blah overall season for Mitchell.
Branden Pinder:  3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K - 2.10 ERA with a 28/3 K/BB ratio over 25.2 innings since being demoted.  Had a 6.29 ERA in 19 games for Trenton earlier in the season.
Taylor Garrison: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K - Blew the save in the bottom of the 9th.   Has a 1.24 ERA in 20 games for Tampa with a 26/7 K/BB ratio.

Greg Bird:  0-for-6, 2 BB, 5 K
Angelo Gumbs:  2-for-7, 2B (7) 
Jake Cave:  4-for-7, 2B (27), 2 RBI, RS, SB (11) - Up to .279 on the season.

Reymond Nunez:  1-for-5, 2B (13), RS
Ty Afenir:  1-for-1, 2B (1), 2 RS, BB

Luis Severino:  3.2 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K - 19-year old RHP.    3-1 with a 1.37 ERA for the GCL squad in 26.1 innings with a 32/6 K/BB ratio.  In his debut last year (DSL), he compiled a 1.68 ERA in 64.1 innings with a 45/17 K/BB ratio.    Signed out of the Dominican Republic for $225,000 in 2011.   I don't know if he will stay in Charleston, or if this was just a one start deal because they needed someone for the double-header today.

Cesar Vargas:  6 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, HR  - Was cruising along until allowing a pair of walks in the 7th, followed by an Angelo Gumbs error.    Has a 2.87 ERA with a 78/34 K/BB ratio over 97.1 innings.  Solid season.
