Yankees Minor League Report 7/27/14: Highlights from Yesterday's Action

Just some general highlights from yesterday:

RHP Brian Mitchell tossed a gem for Scranton (7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K)  This comes on the heals of tossing five scoreless innings in his previous start.    Mitchell is one of those "big stuff, mixed results" type of prospects.   If the results start to match the stuff, the Yankees would have something nice on their hands.....Robert Refsnyder got Sunday off.

In Trenton, Jake Cave followed his monster night on Saturday with a big day on Sunday, going 3-for-4 with a triple, his first Trenton HR, and three runs batted in.   On Saturday, he went 4-for-5 with a double and two triples....Organizational utilityman Casey Stevenson added a 2-run home run as well, while Mason Williams had a pair of singles and a run scored....LHP Manny Banuelos tossed four hitless innings, allowing an unearned run while walking one and striking out two.   He threw 70 pitches in this outing, so he is officially being stretched out...

In Tampa, Dante Bichette added two more doubles (giving him 27 on the season).   He also drove home two, giving him 62 on the season.  He has been one of the most pleasant surprises in the entire system - let us see what he does in Trenton before getting too excited, though....Aaron Judge and Eric Jagielo each singled, scored, and walked.....RHP Jose Pena made his Tampa debut, throwing two perfect innings while striking out one.  The 23-year old has been around since 2009, mostly in the DSL....Jacob Lindgren tossed 1.2 scoreless innings, walking one while striking out four.   He now has 23 strikeouts in 11.1 innings.

In Charleston, Miguel Andujar continued his rampage, going 2-for-4 with a double, run batted in, and two runs scored.   He is at .331/.396/.500 in 34 games since the ASB...LHP Ian Clarkin lasted 3.1 innings, allowing two runs on four hits with no walks and two strikeouts.  He has now thrown 65 innings on the season....
