Yankees Minor League Report 6/10/14: Robert Refsnyder's Scranton Debut Looks Familiar; Pete O'Brien Hits #22; Latest from Aaron Judge & Ian Clarkin

Scranton (Lost to Toledo, 6-3, in 10 innings)

2B Robert Refsnyder:  2-for-4
Because of course he would have a multi-hit debut.   This is his 8th consecutive multi-hit game.
1B Kyle Roller:  1-for-4, HR (6), 3 RBI, RS
Now has 15 home runs and 41 RBI in 180 AB.
UTIL Jose Pirela:  2-for-4, RS, BB
Now 20-for-44 in June.
OF Zoilo Almonte:  1-for-3, BB, K
C Francisco Cervelli:  1-for-4
2-for-17 during rehab stint.
C Austin Romine:  1-for-3, SAC
UTIL Zelous Wheeler:  0-for-3, RS, BB, 2 K
IF Scott Sizemore:  0-for-3, BB

Shane Greene:  4 IP, 8 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K
6.17 ERA; 42.1 IP, 65 H, 33 R, 29 ER, 16 BB, 38 K
You know how his season has gone when this kind of performance is encouraging.

3.03 ERA; 29.2 IP, 21 H, 12 R, 10 ER, 18 BB, 34 K
If you would have told me prior to 2013 that Preston Claiborne, Jose Ramirez, Shane Greene, etc. would all make their big league league appearance before Montgomery, I would have said you were crazy.
RHP Preston Claiborne:  2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K
0.82 ERA; 11 IP, 9 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 6 BB, 11 K

Trenton (Lost to Richmond, 7-4)

C/1B/RF Pete O'Brien:  1-for-4, HR (12), RBI, RS, 2 K
Up to 22 home runs.  His K/BB ratio sits at 57/10 over 60 games between Tampa/Trenton.
CF Mason Williams:  2-for-4, 2 RBI, SF, SB (13)
11-for-33 in June
C Gary Sanchez:  1-for-4, RBI
5-for-24 in June, but has walked six times.   RBI was his 36th of the season.
OF Ben Gamel:  1-for-4, 2B (16), RS, BB, K, SB (7)
7-game hitting streak.
1B/3B/RF Tyler Austin: 0-for-4, 2 K
0-for-10 mini-slide.
3B Rob Segedin:  0-for-3, BB, 2 K
OF Taylor Dugas:  1-for-3, RS, BB
UTIL Casey Stevenson:  1-for-4, 2 K
Replacement for Robert Refsnyder is a 26-year old organizational player.   Trenton will not have a true second base prospect for the rest of the season.
UTIL Ali Castillo: 3-for-4, 3B (1), RS
You must think he is hitting .650 or something, given that I only report on him when he has a good game.

RHP Bryan Mitchell:  4.1 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 4 K, HR
5.03 ERA; 39.1 IP, 44 H, 24 R, 22 ER, 2 HR, 15 BB, 44 K
LHP James Pazos: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K
3.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 HR, 2 BB, 7 K since promotion
RHP Manny Barreda:  1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K
2.45 ERA; 36.2 IP, 26 H, 11 R, 10 ER, 4 HR, 21 BB, 40 K
LHP Fred Lewis:  2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
In what has been a nightmarish season for Lewis, striking out five in two innings is a good sign tonight.
LHP Aaron Dott:  1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K
--------------------------------------
Tampa (Defeated 14-50 Clearwater, 5-4.  14-50?!?!?!?!)

1B Greg Bird: 0-for-2, RS, 2 BB, 2 K
Nice to see a pair of walks.
SS Cito Culver:  1-for-3, RS, BB, K, SB (8)
Culver continues to show some flashes of life.  He is drawing more walks lately, stealing a few bases, etc.
3B Dante Bichette:  1-for-4, RBI, RS, K
First RBI in June (Now has 36 on the season).   The bat has slowed considerably, though his overall slash is still solid.
CF Jake Cave:  0-for-4, RS, BB, 2 K
8-for-41 slide with 13 strikeouts.
C Trent Garrison:  3-for-4, HR (1), 2 RBI, RS
Organizational guy drafted last year is brother of relief pitcher Taylor, who is also in the organization.
1B Matt Snyder:  3-for-4, RBI

LHP Miguel Sulbaran:  4 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K
4.06 ERA; 37.2 IP, 45 H, 19 R, 17 ER, 10 BB, 26 K
RHP Nick Goody:  1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K
2.51 ERA; 14.1 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 HR, 4 BB, 25 K
Goody is on fire now.   I can't imagine they will keep him here for too much longer.   Last 9 IP:  2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 18 K
RHP Cesar Vargas:  1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
Has pitched well in Charleston the past two seasons, but hasn't pitched well whenever he has been promoted to Tampa.
------------------------------------------
Charleston (Defeated Greenville, 8-5)

OF Aaron Judge:  2-for-4, 2B (14), RBI, BB, K
12-for-31 in June with seven extra-base hits.
3B Miguel Andujar:  1-for-4, HR (5), RBI, RS, BB, 2 K
11-for-42 in his last ten games, which may not sound like much, but it is progress.
SS Taylor Wade:  1-for-5, 3B (4), 3 RBI, K
If you are going to go 1-for-5, may as well make it count.
CF Dustin Fowler:  1-for-4, 3B (2), RBI, RS, BB, 2 K
16-for-76 since joining level.  He has shown some flashes of the hitting ability that many are intrigued by, but at 19 years old, it won't happen overnight.
OF Michael O'Neill:  1-for-4, 2 RS
2B Gosuke Katoh:  0-for-4, RS, BB, 2 K
I have alluded to it many times - I would be shocked if he isn't in Staten Island the day the season begins.  For now, chalk all of this up to a learning experience.
1B Reymond Nunez:  2-for-4, 2 2B (2), 2 RBI, RS, BB

LHP Ian Clarkin:  4 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
4.17 ERA; 36.2 IP, 41 H, 19 R, 17 ER, 4 HR, 8 BB, 37 K
Maintaining strong K and BB rates.   Overall, he has been solid.  Tonight, he pitched in a stadium that has a "Little Monster" in left field (Red Sox affiliate), though I don't know if it affected his performance at all.
RHP Eric Ruth (W, 1-1):  3.2 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
RHP Philip Walby (S, 3):  1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
3.57 ERA; 22.2 IP, 10 H, 11 R, 9 ER, 0 HR, 16 BB, 35 K
