Yankees Minor League Report 6/25/14: Luis Severino Tosses Six Hitless Innings While Jake Cave Bangs Out Five Hits in Tampa Win

Down in the GCL, OF Leonardo Molina walked three times, drive in a run, and scored a run.  Molina is a 16-year old (!!!) who signed for $1.4M last season, when he was ranked as the #5 international prospect.    He will turn 17 in July.    He is currently 2-for-17 but with six walks in his first five professional games.   He supposedly is blessed with speed to burn and a very quick bat.  Sounds a bit like Ruben Rivera, doesn't it? Let us hope Molina's career goes a bit better...SS Jorge Mateo, who I will try to keep tabs with all season long, went 1-for-4, with a walk and his fifth stolen base of the season.

If you didn't hear the news, OF Slade Heathcott will miss the remainder of the season due to his knee injury.   The kid has just never caught much of a break.

Trenton (Lost to Bowie, 7-3)

C Gary Sanchez:  3-for-4, 2B (14), RBI
Maybe it is true, and he needs a kick in the pants from time to time.  Now 13-for-36 since suspension.
OF Ben Gamel:  2-for-4, 2 2B (20), RS, K
20 doubles in 75 games this year; 32 in 112 games last year, so his rate is similar.   To date, he hasn't been able to translate those doubles to home runs, as he only has five the last two years.

Charleston (Lost to Savannah, 4-0)

OF Dustin Fowler:   0-for-1
Left the game early, and there is nothing that points to why within the game log.  Hopefully, it is nothing serious as he has been on quite the roll lately.
SS Tyler Wade:  1-for-3, K
Scheduled to have the night off, but he replaced Fowler in the lineup.   Hitting .271 in what has to be considered a successful season thus far.

6-for-20 since All-Star Game.  We will take whatever we can get.
2B Gosuke Katoh:  0-for-4, 2 K
1B Mike Ford:   1-for-4
I love the quirkiness of baseball:  Ford has not hit a home run since his historic 4 home run game on 5/25 (he was out with an injury from 6/7 - 6/20)
