Yankees Minor League Report 6/1/14: Ramon Flores Injured; Robert Refsnyder: 2 More Hits; Aaron Judge Hits a Bomb

Scranton (Lost to Indianapolis, 9-7.  Scranton continues to hit, accumulating 15 more hits today in addition to four walks)

2B Jose Pirela: 5-for-6, 2 2B (10), 3B (3), 3 RBI, 2 RS, K
.316/.354/.446 in 193 AB.    He hit .346/.400/.462 in May and is off to a nice start here in June.
C Francisco Arcia:  4-for-5, 2 2B (4), RBI, RS
.303/.333/.382 in 25 games, appearing mostly as a backup at catcher and first base.
1B/OF Ramon Flores:  1-for-1
.261/.352/.447 in 199 AB.  However, the real story is that he was pulled from the game after getting struck in the ankle after a first inning single.  He is likely headed to the disabled list, per Twitter.  Ouch.
OF Adonis Garcia:  2-for-5, 2B (10), RBI, K
.305/.335/.426 in 190 AB.    He has been showing a reverse split, hitting better vs. RHP than LHP.
C Austin Romine:  0-for-3, RS, 2 BB, K
.231/.322/.327 in 104 AB.
IF Corban Joseph:  0-for-3, BB
.230/.284/.320 in 100 AB.
IF Scott Sizemore:  1-for-5, RBI, K
.265/.333/.361
UTIL Zelous Wheeler:  0-for-4, RS, BB, 2 K

RHP Jose Ramirez:  3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K
0.84 ERA; 10.2 IP, 12 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 0 HR, 6 BB, 13 K.
We could see him during this long stretch of games without a break - but remember a few important facts:  1.  He missed the beginning of the season due to injury; 2.  He is just getting used to life as a reliever.  He threw 44 pitches today.
RHP Mark Montgomery (L, 1-1):  1.1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K
2.59 ERA; 24.1 IP, 15 H, 9 R, 7 ER, 2 HR, 17 BB, 28 K
----------------------------------------
Trenton (Defeated Portland, 6-4)

C Gary Sanchez:  1-for-3, 2 RBI, 2 RS, BB
.258/.325/.434 in 182 AB; 14-for-43 in last ten games.
2B Robert Refsnyder:  2-for-4, 2B (16), RBI, K, CS (5)
.320/.367/.522 in 203 AB.  19-for-40 (.475) with 12 XBH in his last ten games.  What more needs to be said?   If you want a negative, the 5-for-10 stealing is obviously not ideal.
CF Mason Williams:  2-for-4, RS, K, CS (2)
.209/.305/.281 with 27 walks and 27 strikeouts in 49 games.  11-for-39 in last ten games.
C/RF Pete O'Brien:  1-for-3, RBI, RS, BB, K

OF Taylor Dugas: 2-for-4, RBI, K
.294/.407/.426 in 136 AB.

LHP Matt Tracy (W, 6-3);  6 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
4.11 ERA; 61.1 IP, 65 H, 30 R, 28 ER, 4 HR, 27 BB, 31 K
LHP Aaron Dott:  2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
1.77 ERA; 20.1 IP, 10 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 7 BB, 13 K

They were 1-hit by Jose Berrios in Game 1, striking out 13 times.

CF Jake Cave:  2-for-7, 2B (12), RBI, RS, K
1B Greg Bird:  0-for-5, RBI, 2 K, SF
6-for-35 slide
SS Cito Culver:  1-for-7, 2B (10), RS, 3 K
3B Dante Bichette:  1-for-6, RS, 3 K
1B Matt Snyder:  1-for-3, 2B (4), K
Tough world - he gets the only hit in Game 1, and gets benched in Game 2.

RHP Rafael DePaula (L, 1-3):  5 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 6 K
4.18 ERA; 47.1 IP, 45 H, 25 R, 22 ER, HR, 24 BB, 58 K

LHP James Pezos (L, 0-2): 0.1 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
3.96 ERA; 25 IP, 23 H, 13 R, 11 ER, 0 HR, 6 BB, 33 K
Interesting that he started this game - he is a relief pitcher (and has been hot as a reliever lately).  It could be because of the double header, but a starter came in to relieve him (Miguel Subaran).  Weird, since he has been doing so good in the bullpen and I would rather them not change his routine.
LHP Miguel Subaran:  3.1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
5.02 ERA; 28.2 IP, 33 H, 18 R, 16 ER, 1 HR, 9 BB, 16 K since being acquired.
RHP Nick Rumbelow:  1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
18 IP, 10 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 HR, 5 BB, 29 K combined between Charleston/Tampa
------------------------------------------------------
Charleston (Lost to Asheville, 7-5)

OF Aaron Judge:  2-for-3, 3B (2), HR (7), RBI, 2 RS, BB
Second HR in two days.  Supposedly, this HR was a bullet to dead center field.  One person on Twitter said that it was the furthest ball they have ever seen hit, which could be a bit of hyperbole, but his power is very real.
SS Tyler Wade:  2-for-5, RBI
2B Gosuke Katoh: 1-for-4, 2B (5), RBI, RS, K
3B Miguel Andujar:  1-for-4, RBI, RS
.215/.279/.328 in 186 AB
OF Brandon Thomas:  1-for-4, RBI, 2 K
OF Michael O'Neill:  1-for-5, K
OF Dustin Fowler:  1-for-4, RS
11-for-52 for the 19-year old since joining the team on 5/23.
UTIL John Murphy:  2-for-4, K

LHP Caleb Smith (L, 4-4):  4.2 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
2.41 ERA; 52.1 IP, 37 H, 16 R, 14 ER, 1 HR, 20 BB, 56 K
Been off of his game as of late, allowing 11 runs on 17 hits over his last 14 innings.
RHP Jaron Long:  4.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K
1.64 ERA; 49.1 IP, 44 H, 15 R, 9 ER, 0 HR, 8 BB, 46 K
